What a 48 hours! The country ground to a standstill with snow. It is so different to the days of my youth when firstly we expected conditions like this and secondly didn't let them disrupt our lives to the extent that seems to the case now. Maybe nostalgia has crept in here but we have had a worrying couple of days as we see flight after flight cancelled. The ones that initially concern us are those that take us from the North East to London. All gone. A little tribute here to our travel agent, Trailfinders. We booked our tickets with them months ago, yet this morning their manager rang us as soon as they heard that BA had cancelled tomorrow's Heathrow flights, he then talked over strategies and offered us help. Good service in this day and age.
The conversation with our agent had me rapidly out of the door to the local railway station to secure transport to London that would allow us to get our evening flight to Hong Kong. Tickets purchased, fingers crossed we'll see what the morning brings. Watch this space.
