Easy days are hard to come by with the itinerary that we have set ourselves and so a short run out in the car to enjoy the views and expend a little paint made a bit of a change. Each corner has something of interest and taking the time to enjoy it is welcome. We found a little pull off next to the River Waipau and rejoiced in the lack of biting fly activity. Lunch and a spot of watercolour made the break worthwhile, then a leisurely drive back to Te Anau and an evening amble for dinner at what had become our local Italian restaurant.
